  1. POWERS OF ATTORNEY
    Power of Attorney documents are extremely important as these will allow your loved ones to help you with healthcare and financial decisions when you are unable to. A guardianship through the courts would become necessary without these executed before you lose any capacity.
    • DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY (Financial)
      • This document authorizes your loved ones to access bank accounts, pay bills, and otherwise help you with financial matters if you are unable or unwilling to do so. DURABLE
    • HEALTHCARE POWER OF ATTORNEY
      • This document sets out your wishes as to the kind of healthcare you wish to receive and designates who should make those decisions on your behalf if you are incapacitated (coma, in surgery, etc.).
  2. BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS:
    • Bank Accounts
    • Life Insurance
    • Retirement (401K, IRA, etc.)
  3. DMV TRANSFER ON DEATH APPLICATION for your vehicles (cars, mobile homes, boats). Click here for Free DMV Form.
  4. TRANSFER UPON DEATH DEED(S) (for land, houses, other real property.)
    • This allows your property to avoid probate. However, there are some drawbacks which you may wish to discuss with your attorney.

    • Remember to ensure someone can access your digital passwords and accounts. Best practice would be to keep the passwords and the usernames in separate locations.
